The 1-10 scale, while not obsolete, is certainly not the best scale in all circumstances. In many cases, the binary scale is much more applicable, with only two possible values, 1 ("I'd hit that") or 0 ("...with a stick"). Such is the case with lib's mom, considering that for only US$2 everyone who votes 1 can have a go.
