Gengari
Whatever. Since the last thread I created is not specificly for me, why not? After all, there's got to be a... zero amount of questions you idiots want to ask me.
Sovy Kurosei
Why won't you show your picture to disprove the accusations lodged against you?
Lord Bitememan
[SARCASM] Are there a lot of Christians in Texas? [/SARCASM]

Assuming I'd want to, my scanner doesn't work. Maby one of these days I'll be rich enough to own a digital camera, but being the poor colledge boy I am, I doubt it will be any time soon.

Lord B: No. There are exactly nineteen christians in texas. Twenty one when G W Bush Jr. visits (and naturally drags along his wife).
Lord Bitememan
Would you say that the intensity of Christian piety in Texas has had a deleterious effect while growing up of your feeling on religion in general?
Gengari
It was actually the parents of my friends and acquaintances in school, most of whom were born again christians who moved to the suburbs, who turned me off to it.

My dad, former military (vietnam) is actually a devout atheist, and my mom's a non practicing christian, probably non practicing from living with him for twenty, thirty years. So I grew up in a household of sanity amongst the lack thereof that is born again christian fundamentalism.

If I hadn't lived amongst such devout, brimstone and hellfire christians, I probably could have wound up being a christian myself.
Gengari
A horrible thought, indeed...
Lord Bitememan
So, would you say your problem is more with intense piety so much as religion in principle?
Gengari
Well, that was my problem earlier in life, yes.

However, after thinking through religion and going through several weeks looking at various histories of religion, I started to think about it rationally, and realized that I am not theistic or atheistic, I honestly don't know what to believe in, and looking at the history of modern religions, I don't think any of the world's current religions are anything more than control mechanisms.
Stimulant
Do you prefer ho-hos, or twinkies?
Gengari
Neither, they're both too sweet and sugary... can't stand them.
Stimulant
ice cream or french fries?
Gengari
Depends... but I don't like either really all that much. French fries can be very good though, if cooked the proper, cajun way.
Stimulant
in pig fat?

Fried Candy Bars or Gravy (just gravy straight).?
Gengari
No, no pig fat.

Neither of those area apealing... gravy's only good to dip things in or pour over things... and I hate candy bars (especially chocolate... yuck....)

I'll ask a question in a similar vein. Do you see a difference between intense piety and spirituality? If so, what do you think is worse, spirituality or religion?
Gengari
Sure, I do. I'll explain it later (currently on someone else's computer), but intense piety is much more annoying to me.

[edit: continuing]

Yes, I do. Intense piety doesn't necisarily mean you are a spiritual person: Only that you follow your interpretation of your religious scriptures or beliefs, or far more likely your preacher's or other religious leader's interpretation, in every aspect of your life, with as few failings as humanly possible.

Spirituality, while it can be connected to intense piety, is not necisarily so.

It's more of an experiance, in my view, and does not have to rely on rules, restrictions, or beliefs in any particular religion.
Shenlong
Why do you know so much about furries?
Name your top 5 anime series
Subbed or dubbed
Why do you use a chick from a godawful series as your avatar?
Gengari
I'm a pervert.

Hm. I'll get to that one after my classes.

Subbed.

Puni Puni Poemi kicks your ass, bitch! Atualyl I should have used tihe imaqe with the quote (this is a ten year old girl mind you) "maby you should take off your clothes and let futaba rub her hot body over you", and no, that's not taken out of context.
Harry Kewell
Why are you so aggresively pro-homosexual in politics? SOmething you want to share with the class?

To allow us to laugh at your political ignorance, define for me a socialist libertarian.
Gengari

I am pro-homosexuals rights because I'm not a hypocrite, and I see the laws which oppress the homosexuals as wrong.

QUOTE
SOmething you want to share with the class?

Sure, why not? Class, I'm straight.

I have a question for you now: Why do you think that one who fights to end the oppression of a minority is part of that minority?

QUOTE

I've already done so in this thread, but for the sake of the class clown, I'll go over it again.

A libertarian socialist is someone who is libertarian and socialist at the same time, wether moderate or extreme in either one. Libertarian left is probably better of a term to describe it, but most people do use socialism and left as interchangable, and when people try and play semantics, I usually ignore them for the most part.

This link should illustrate the scale I use.

No it doesen't. It's not funny. Not at all. (Excel Saga is brilliant at times, PPP... Not so)
Sephiroth
Full Metal Panic is more funny.

Yes it is. Azumanga Daioh is funnier though... School Rumble is very uneven but is really funny at times... Overall I don't think the japanese are that good at comedy (they have a few good ones, but most of them aren't very funny)
Gengari
Arilou: Overall, hollywood isn't either.
FIST Shenlong
FMP is not funny
Azumanga Daioh was funny for maybe 3 episodes, then repeating the same routines got old fast.
Puni Puni Poemi sucks
Excel Saga has maybe 4 good episodes
School Rumble is still kinda funny but the plot.. is unfocused, dunno I'm not excited about the show anymore

For the most part anime comedies cannot compare to American ones like The Simpsons and Family Guy, the only ones that have truley made me laugh my ass off are Full Metal Panic:Fumoffu, the first episode of Futakoi Alternative, Shinesmen and maybe a few Abenobashi eps
Gengari
Eh, most of the time, any comedy... ... .. I can't think... shenny's sig...
FIST Shenlong
weakling (:
Gengari
Bah... I can't get to your naruto pics, for some reason...

Need to deal with the ports on my router or something...
FIST Shenlong
Probably cus the site is down, an alternate site:

Who's talking about hollywood? Britain is where the comedy's at.

I found episode 22 to be funny as hell.

Which makes it a decent comedy in my book. No Futurama, but decent.

Nah, some of the funnies stuff are in the middle of the series (Chiyo as a penguin, the entire "Drunk teacher" thing)

22? Wannabe is only up to 20 unless you're watching the encodes from shrimps.. and I don't trust no name groups

Flashes of hilarity in a sea of recycled jokes. Whatsherface wants to pet the goddamn cat but keeps on getting bitten, lets use the same tired gag again for the 30th fucking time dry.gif

I've been watching the Shrimps one, Wannabee is just too slow.

It's called a "Running gag" and I love those. Simply repeating a joke in the right way actually makes it funnier.
Shenlong
Agree to disagree then, humor is subjective anyways.

Question for Gengari:
You watching any of the new animes this Spring 05 season?
Gengari
Unfortunately, I don't have satalite, cable, etc, or the money to actually buy animes right now...
Flyer_Bear
Would you say that your father's devout Atheism jaded you from a young age against Christianity? Making you as narrow-minded a knee-jerk reactionary in many respects as the religious zealots you despise so much? If so, wouldn't that be ironic?
Gengari

Nope, my dad allowed me to attend church for with my friends (when my friend's mom tried to "save" me). He was very open minded, much like myself. However, in his mind religion is a tool to control the masses, and little more. Not christianity, but religion in general.

I'm certainly not a knee jerk reactionary.

And it would have been ironic, if it were true.
Flyer_Bear
Well, you say you hate chocolate, so I guess I can believe you. Good man.
Gengari
I don't hate chocolate, I hate american, or to be more specific, bitter chocolate.

Some sweeter chocolate I like...
Flyer_Bear
What are you talking about? American Milk Chocolate is about as sweet as it gets. European Dark is the nasty bitterness.
Gengari
I edited it before you postted... I don't like bitter chocolate. If you've ever had mexican chocolat.e.. wooo.. that's good.
Stimulant
Bitter chocolate is far better. Unsweetened rocks my socks off.

Really good coffee, and really good chocolate, as their quality increases, their simliarity does as well. To the cultured palate(ie, the one not interested in maximizing the AMOUNT of chocolate eaten, like a tubby bitch).
xcr
Well I'm not at all fond of coffee, I have to agree that bitter chocolate is by far better than sweet chocolate, milk or (god forbid) white chocolate. But we have discussed that before, and those of us with decent taste will just have to live with most people preferring to scarf large amounts of crap.
Arilou
I like most kinds of chocolate. (except the cheap german ones) Depends on what you want them for.
Gengari
Eh, I can't eat much chocolate at a time, even thee good stuff. still, it's a matter of taste.

I hate coffee too.

Edit: No, seriously. I can't get to it, just like IC an't get to hotmail.
Ferran
Does Gengari really have more fun per cubic inch?
Gengari
Gengari's fun is concentrated, yet formulated in such a way that it doesn't take away from the flavor.
