That's too bad. It was a stupid decision to ban you. Someone let the power get to them. Of course you should have started a new thread to debate the issue but this is unreasonable. If this keeps up, the board will be ruined. We need more regular posters like Dakyron. No reason for this extreme ban. Punishment doesn't fit the crime.

I gave him fair warning.

One thing I do NOT believe in is continually berating a poster about decisions, especially one which is already very difficult and emotional.

Also, Dak had multiple posts of his deleted in a similar vein. This should have been a hint.

Actually, I let the emotions get to me.

But hey, Sastan is always free to (a) overturn, (b) remove me.

Incidentally, I'm going to kick this upstairs to him (along with my reasoning) for review.

So am I right in understanding he was banned for stating his political views on abortion and death, but AH was allowed to roam freely about the death of a 16 year old girl for two years?

Yes but he had the poor sense to offend the sensibilites in a situation that involves people that the Staff happens to like.

Really you should be applauding our efforts at reform and higher standards.

Speaking of which, this mildly reminds me off Llywelyn making rules that specifically protected either himself or his former girlfriend. I will admit, however, this really isn't really even all that close to the same thing. The situation is just familiar.

1. He was banned for stating them to someone actively considering it, in a moralising form, despite repeated requests to knock it off. It's called sensitivity for people in a difficult time.

2. In case you didn't notice, I was not OS during AH trolling about Mallory. My policy would probably have been rather different.

3. I just created the thread in the appropriate board to get Sastan started on the review process.

I know you weren't OS at the time. It's just I feel there's going to be a semi-concensus leaning your way on this issue. I thought I'd nip the hyprocrisy right now.

I agree with Lithfy. As tremendous a fun as it was troll him about his nocturnal activities, we went a lot further than Daky was going and got somewhat free rein to do so.

I really think you should dial Daky's ban back to a week.

I'm not going to go off at length on the (in)justice of Daky's ban. I'm really not going to be the most objective judge on it. I will say this, though, on the matter of Lithfo. I took a zero-tolerance approach to the Mallory/Necrophelia jokes as soon as I became a mod, and have done my best to stick to that. So, there were efforts underway even before Adam was OS to crack down on that kind of stuff.

Dakyron,

Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. Perhaps when you can act your age, you'll be welcome here. Until then, go stalk some other woman wrestling with the decision of whether to have an abortion or not. I'm sure you and your ilk will find plenty of people to torment outside the nearest Planned Parenthood clinic; and be sure to bring the pictures and props along.

(1) This was AHB, not flame wars. AH's stuff got deleted and he got warns most (if not all) of the time he went on the necrophilia crap outside of flamewars.

(2) Are you saying that the staff can't learn from mistakes? That because the staff were IMHO too lenient towards AH that Dakyron's shit must be allowed now?

(3) Where is AH now?

Bullshit.

Dak is a great poster and should stay. Just because he stated his position on abortion? Even more bullshit.

But hey, it's a great board; keep banning posters for inane reasons and let others roam freely.

I'm starting to agree with Coffee and the others that say this ban is too long. Indeed, I agree he should be banned, but one month. He should just get the regular 7 days. Though I certainly don't agree with Dak (seriously, how could you just relentlessly attack Lady B like that, even Ed the most con of the cons thought that was way out of line), I still think this is to long. Rules mean nothing unless they are followed.

You all called me a whiner, let a lot of his crap go through once you became annoyed with me, then ended up banning him because he started to annoy you more. If he had of stuck mostly to just myself and maybe a couple others, he would have never been permabanned.

EDIT: LB is by far the best mod when it comes to this stuff. I thank him. Especially considering that I'm pretty sure he doesn't particularly like me, yet he still makes the right decisions.

I wouldn't expect Dakyron to be silent on this matter. If I thought someone was about to commit murder (I don't think abortion is murder but obviously Dakyron does), I would try to discourage him/her. I don't think he was trying to be an ass. I think he has a very strong opinion on the matter is all.

He still deserved a ban (though not a 30 day ban). You can't go around saying "your a murderer" followed by incredibly large pictures of babies.

I don't think he was trying to be an ass either. But he was. However, that should never in my opinion warrant a ban of any kind. For me, a person should only be banned if over the course of weeks or months there is an overwhelming feeling of contempt towards that poster by a large number of other people. By contempt I mean that people see the poster in question as ruining the board itself through bad posting. That would be my requirements, not just saying something that is tactless or disrespectful.

So, let me get this straight: he said abortion is murder and posted pictures of babies? God damn him for stating his opinion sarcastically and within a manor that fits his personality.

He's not a fucking troll, he's a sarcastic ass. People have popped in and out of abortion threads on this forum before saying "What's funnier than a dead baby? A dead baby sitting next to a kid with down syndrome!"
