QUOTE(Lord Bitememan @ Sep 21 2004, 02:54 PM) Two reasons, the Japanese media for making exagerated claims about the avaliability of underaged sex for cash, and secondly a small percentage of schoolgirls (some as young as 12) who take advantage of this media attention by dabbling in Enjo kosai (translates as subsidized socializing) ie having sex with older men for cash ie prostitution. The wierd thing is that its not really a secret, phone booths are plastered with phone numbers and schoolgirls market themselves with voicemail (so thats what those cellphones are for!)l Fun facts: * Japan's Age of Consent is 13 nationwide but most prefectures make their own laws ranging from 13 to 18. * This lolita phenomena isn't limited to anime, there was a frontpage blurb on the Wall Street Journal on Friday the 17th this month about the Lolita fashion trend in Japan with interviews with 25 year old women who sit in parks sucking on lolipops with other adult women in frills. (IMG:http://www.blue-period.fsnet.co.uk/graphics/glbible4/001.jpg) Not sure if I should be disturbed or aroused :P EDIT: I've decided on both This post has been edited by Shenlong: Sep 21 2004, 05:37 PM |

QUOTE Azumanga: Ive watched some random eps of it, enough to have a *rough* idea of whats going on. I keep mixing it up with another anime (whose name I forget...... its the one with a teacher thats really small). Sensei no Oijikan QUOTE Scrapped Princess: Actually quite nice. I recommend you watch it if you havnt already done so, if only to see the interesting spell animations The show has been licensed and shold be on DVD soon. I really hope it gets shown on Cartoon Network. QUOTE Gravitation: I watched the first episode, and thought it was semi-alright. Havnt seen beyond that though - however most guys seem put off since its main(?) characters are gay. I've watched a few episodes, it looked pretty good but I was watching it with a chick who was gushing over the bishies so that kinda killed it for me. Had to take several showers to feel clean again QUOTE Gokusen: Watched a couple of eps and thought it was interesting. Opinions? Its very easy to compare Gokusen to GTO but they're quite different shows. I really enjoyed the series, the feminine touch in dealing with her students. QUOTE Oh yeah, have you two watched live action? I swear, it must be the corniest thing I've ever seen. laugh.gif I have, Yukie NAKAMA is a cutie (IMG:http://msittig.freeshell.org/jp_drama/gokusen/imgs/nakama-yukie.jpg) You should consider checking out GTO live Action, its really damn good |

If you are Computer Information Systems your job has been outsourced to India.
If you are Computer Science your job is in the process of being outsorced to India. If you are Computer Engineering, your job is safe. |

QUOTE(Bar-Aram @ Sep 21 2004, 07:12 PM) That series defies description.. the animation is minimal and the artwork is pretty stark with wierd camera angles and pretty good computer effects. Its the type of show that you "experience" rather then simply watch, its very atmospheric and cerebral. I'm not a big fan of these kind of shows but if you enjoy stuff like Ghost in the Shell, this show is for you. Personally I prefer "emotional" rather then "wierd" animes |

As I understand, CIS is a mix of computer engineering and business.

I loved Serial Experiments Lain. It's one of the two series I own on DVD (The other being Outlaw Star, and that's just because I came across it in a mall when I was in New Jersey)
As for emotional shows: Shenlong, have you seen Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien? |

I just finished watching FMA today, and it was only afterwards that I realised I missed something big. That or I totally misread something during the anime.
Who is "the master" of the homunculi? It wasn't Light Hoenheim seeing as well.... he was dealt with by Dante. It isnt Dante - "the master" is a he, and besides which she says "the master isnt home right now" or something to that effect. Envy brings Al to "the master's room". So who exactly is this master? It seems like a very loose end to me. Oh yeah, and what was with Dante and Gluttony at the end? I presume their dissapearence indicates that they somehow obliterated each other, but that doesnt really make sense seeing as Dante appears to be capable of dealing with any homoculus easily. All in all, the end is pretty confusing. But..... I like FMA all the same. |

QUOTE(Arilou @ Sep 22 2004, 09:41 AM) I have, and wasn't impressed. The show is blatantly manipulating your emotions, no subtly at all. The main character could give Shinji a run for his money in the useless twat department, that coma chick is clueless, the lil sister is a selfish unthinking lil bitch and the blue-haired chick is the only vaguely normal character despite being weepy and too damn emotional. And the ending was predictable and sucked. If I want emotional anime, I'll rewatch Now and Then, Here and There or Key the Metal Idol <_< |

I have yet to see the final ep of FMA so.. I'll not answer for now. But there is probably a huge thread on various anime boards exploring every aspect of the final episode so you may want to check out

I play the role of a no life anime geek on this board for my own amusement and to fuck with people who are gullible enbough to buy my act. Its really no different then trolling some all white conservative board as an angry black youth railing againt "the white man keeping us down" and such. Except for being a sexual deviant, that part is true enough. I really do dig cosplay chicks :D |

That said I *liked* KGNE for the reasons spelled out more or less: That all the characters where selfish bitches. I just guess it resonates with my view of humanity.. FMA 51 (the last episode of the animé) ends on a sort of "to be continued" note. They're making a movie so they're saving the real ending for that I guess. *blegh* |
