The show was cancelled and last Inuyasha episode aired in japan on Sept 13th in a two part episode (The Two's Bond ~ Use the Shikon Shard!) along with a fourth movie. The funny thing is that the anime doesn't end where the manga (comic book) ends, the manga is much much further along. So who knows, maybe there will be more..

I look foreward to what new series Takahashi will churn out next :shades:

EDIT: If you question meant to ask if more Inuyasha episodes will be aired on Cartoon Network.. I believe around only 50 episodes have been brought over, there are 167 episodes total. Dun worry, there is plenty of the dog-eared boy for you fangirls to drool over :P

Holy Crap. You know your stuff.

Which anime would you recommend?

Keep in mind that I generally dont like stuff like Utena (it was terrible!). Jungle wa Itsumo was also crap (although it seems quite afew people like it).

I'm currently keeping track of Naruto and FMA (which are good).

Also watching Madlax, but I'm finding thats just a repeat of Noir.

I found Gundam (Seed? Wing? Not sure which...... its the one with ZAFT) to be iff-ish, although that may be because I've been watching random episodes.

Errrm, also liked XTV (except for the fact that all the decent characters die) and Evangelion was good, but not great. Escaflowne was pretty good too.

..... oh, and Panda Z totally sucks

That is too broad a question, do you want licensed stuff or fansubs? I will avoid the abvious titles that everyone recommends like Cowboy Bebop, FLCL, Trigun ect and instead name a few lesser known but far better shows. Check out their summaries and see if any interest you. All have been viewed by yours truly and highly recommended

licensed
GTO
Last EXILE
12 Kingdoms
Haibane Renmei
Crest of the Stars

Movies
Milinium Actress

Fansubs:
Otogizoushi
Samurai 7
Monster

Keep an eye out for Samurai Champloo, it is directed by the same guy behind Escaflowne and Cowboy Bebop

If you have any questions on where to get these fansubs or anything else, feel free to ask

Because it has run its course, 150+ episodes is damn impressive considering most anime series nowadays are 13-26 episodes long (one to two seasons). Its a testament to Takahashi Rumiko's winning formula, but in the end nothing new or dynamic was happening. Same main bad guy, monsters of the week, static characters.. you can only milk a series for so long.

King of Bandit Jing is sorta neat,

like naruto, Samauri 7, um.. full metal alchemist might be good, saw part of an episode, but not enough to reall judge it,

watched a dubbed bit of gundam seed, seems to be the standard get young adults to save the world in giant machines, throw in a couple twist plots in a war type deal, missed last weeks episode though.

I saw the first 2 episodes of FMA and was unimpressed at first, it looked like your standard shonen (biys) adventure anime. Luckily I stuck with it and was very surprised. I would highly recommend people watching it when it comes out on Cartoon Network in October.

Or you can learn how to use bittorrent or IRC and either download fanubs (shows currently being shown in japan and not yet licenced in the US), or be a pirate and download DVD rips. I can tell you how to do either of them :P

I don't give two shits if something is animated or not, I crave either a good plot or something amusing. Reality television and a stagnated Hollywood hellbent on making as many remakes as possible just doesn't do it for me. I could write a longass essay on how I like the visual style, the often dark and edgy storylines, how there is a wide variety of genres, how nothing (I mean it) is sacred and how emotionally powerful even a cartoon can be if the writers aren't stuck on writing formulaic drivel and the cliched happy ending.

But in the end, it comes down to numbers.
95% of what is on television atm is crap while only 90% of anime is crap. I demand entertainment and anime is one of the better sources around.

FMA is great. It might look standard in the beginning but it really evolves... One of the few series where I actually screamed out loud at the bad guys... I *really* hated them there for a while :D

For recommended series...RahXephon is good. It's very similar to Evangelion (some say it's a clone) though IMHO, infinitely better. It's more of a romance-story with Mechas and space-time distortions than anything else. One of my faves.

LastEXILE is beautiful, but the story is nothing special. Worth watching, but not one of the best IMHO.

12 Kingdoms kicks total ass. One of my favourite shows of all times. Seriously it's *really* good. And it has good world-building which they usually skimp on in animé.

Once you've watched a bit of animé I recommend Excel Saga... It's a parody show (each episode parodies a certain style or genré of animé... The "Fist of the North Star" parody is hilarious) Stay away from the last episode though, it's... Disturbing.

For a bit of funny comedy I recommend Azumanga Daioh... Good comedy in small doses. It's mindlessly cute in some ways though :D I've yet to meet someone who didn't like it actually.

I've only seen the first season of Gantz, but it was great. Totally bizzarre (which is my thing) and beautifully drawn. The main character is a total dork :D

Elfen Lied is OK as far as it has come. Very violent though... Sort of like it.

One of my personal favourites (that no one else likes) is Witch Hunter: Robin. Mostly that might be because it really doesen't feel like an animé (to me) Much more subdued than most japåanese stuff. Beautiful animation though.

Oh, and Serial Experiments Lain is a must. Very trippy, but very good.

Residual radiation from the two atomic bombs. Yes, America is to blame for this as well

Those crazy game shows can also be found in Taiwan, usually very late at night. I'm not sure how they came about.. but Jackass and Punk'ed has nothing on these shows. I've seen minor physical torture (rubbing your ass against a hot exhaust pipe to see who can endure the longest, or covering yourself with butter and letting dogs lick you clean) and psychological torture (contestant watchs on hidden hidden cameras while a "stinger" tries and seduce his GF).

I'm sure some liberal artsy major could write a dozen page report on the rigid asian culture where individuality is supressed and how this leads to people finding any way to gain a few fleeting moments of fame and recognition.. but who gives a shit, its entertaining as hell to watch

The whole plot felt like a video game to me and thus would be familiar to the anime newbie IMO. A good series to introduce people to anime

Hi, my name is Shenlong and I think Azumanga Daioh is overratted. Its funny for the first 7 episodes.. but when you find out the flat characters are doing the exact same thing over and over and over and over again.. no point in watching further

My local newspaper did a short article on a japanese director (he did a movie that was on theatres some time ago... Zatoichi?) They said that it was quite interesting how he could both be an extremely artsy director and a leader of bizarre talk-shows at the same time. Describing it as "Ingmar Bergman at the same time as he was directing would host a talk show where he'd hit people with rubber hammbers"

The first animé I saw (apart from Starzingers, which doesen't really count since it was in swedish and I was like 5 years old) was Shadow Skill, which is part martial-arts and part incredibly bizzarre philosophy. The last battle is interrupted by cuts that shows lions drinking water and giraffes in the sunset. Wierd stuff. The second I saw was X and the third WHR...

QUOTE

True that, I also think you have to have watched some animé to get all the in-jokes. (even if you haven't watched the actual series parodied it helps to know the type)

Actually, i think that's the funny part. The running gags. (Also the episode where they get the PE teacher drunk is pure hilarity...) The thing about Azumanga is that the jokes themselves aren't that funny, but the timing is just so totally perfect.... But tastes are like asses I guess.

Don't get me wrong. RahXephon is definately not as fucked up as Eva... It has some of the same themes though, but is IMHO much better becuse it's not as pretentious :D Also the love-story (which the entire thing circles around) is kind of original/cute, and the facial expressions and such are really well-done.

Other good shows:

Naruto: if oyu like long fighting scenes and wierd moves this one's for you :D I personally love it (see my sig. for my fav. character) But tastes may differ. Warning! Gets *extremely* drawn out at times, and animation quality varies from totally fucking brilliant (episode 30, episode 46-50) to pretty bad.

Arilou/Shenlong:

Hinata sucks! Haku was the only decent character :P
That said, I want to see her beat Neji into the ground (he's too arrogent for his own good).
That aside, yes it gets drawn out at time, and at a certain death-scene it gets drawn out to Dragonball-Z proportions. I hope they dont do that sorta thing again.
I personally dont have a problem with the animation quality at all, but then again I dont pay much attention to that and concentrate on the storyline. All in all, very enjoyable to watch.

As for FMA, I think you two are getting far too involved. That or I'm far too detached. I was sad when it happened (In that sense, I was quite attached....), but my dislike of the badguys didnt really take a hike.
Still, The badguys have a certain aura of mystery around them that you dont find in other series. That plus I've only watched to about:

QUOTE
Where the Fuhrer kills Martel.

Not sure which ep that is though. I havnt been able to get a hold of the eps after that.

Excel Saga:
I didnt really enjoy this, but that may be because I havnt really watched an extensive amount of anime. I stopped watching after the first 2 or so episodes. Maybe someday I will go back and watch the entire thing.

Azumanga:
Ive watched some random eps of it, enough to have a *rough* idea of whats going on. I keep mixing it up with another anime (whose name I forget...... its the one with a teacher thats really small). Both of them seem mildly amusing, though I'd want to watch it more comprehensively befor I make a solid statement.

WHR:
Really nice music :)
OK, I liked this one too. Interesting plot, nice characters, nice concept. What more is there to say?

RahXephon:
Havnt watched.... must get a hold of it sometime.

12 Kingdoms:
Havnt even heard of this. Definately must get a hold of this from the sound of things.

Elfen Lied:
I've been in the business of promoting how non-violent it is
Some hearts popping out (but you see hearts popping out in romance-comedies anyway!) flying pencils, broken seashells - perfect for the whole family!

Lain:
I saw some of this waaay back, but I havnt been able to get a hold of it since.

Samurai Shamploo:
Its somewhat intersting so far. Right now it doesnt seem to have much of a storyline though - its just a string of episodes centered on the same characters.
If you guys havnt already looked into it, you might want to give it a try.

Last Exile:
I watched the OVA (OAV?) and it seemed pretty nice, if alittle standard. Opinions?

Gravitation:
I watched the first episode, and thought it was semi-alright. Havnt seen beyond that though - however most guys seem put off since its main(?) characters are gay.

Scrapped Princess:
Actually quite nice. I recommend you watch it if you havnt already done so, if only to see the interesting spell animations :)

Gantz:
Sounds oddly familiar, though I cant place my finger on it. Ive probably heard it in passing somewhere.

Gokusen:
Watched a couple of eps and thought it was interesting. Opinions?

Oh yeah, have you two watched live action? I swear, it must be the corniest thing I've ever seen.

Since the Age of Consent in Japan is 15 of 14 (I believe) a lot of those "minors" aren't.

Samurai Shamploo:
Its somewhat intersting so far. Right now it doesnt seem to have much of a storyline though - its just a string of episodes centered on the same characters.
If you guys havnt already looked into it, you might want to give it a try.

Seen some episodes of it (8 or so) seems to be a lot of style (It's VERY stylish) but not that much substance. Will have to wait and see though.

Actually quite nice. I recommend you watch it if you havnt already done so, if only to see the interesting spell animations

Seen it, was OK but definately nothing special. Could see the ending after around episode 2 though :(

Watched a couple of eps and thought it was interesting. Opinions?

Seen the entire series. It's OK, but it feels like a snippet of a larger story (which it is, since the manga is apparently much larger in scope)
