Remember how Saddam Hussein was eeeeevil because he supposedly ran child prisons? Well. . .
Major General Geoffrey Miller, brought in to run the jail after the dismissal of Brigadier General Janis Karpinski, who was in charge when the prisoner abuses are alleged to have taken place last year, said detainees ranged in age from 12 to 80. REST OF THE ARTICLE |

I've heard many, many reasons why Saddam was
but this wasn't one of them.

It's the hard knock life, for us...
Instead of treated, we get tricked Instead of kisses we get kicked... Sorry, I was just thinking of the poor terrorists and how we should put their plight into a musical. [Fact is, at 12 years old, you are very capable of killing and if they are they damn well SHOULD take them into custody if they are legitimately suspected]. |

Indeed. At 8, you should be fully responsible for you actions. Once again, indeed DS.

Yes indeedy, we should treat every 12-year old suspected of the capability of killing his fellow man the same. DS, tell you what, you can start carting off your own school youth to prison since they're obviously capable. Me, I'll go out on a limb and wait until we catch them holding smoking guns before I decide to sweep entire neighbourhoods and incarcerating everyone I find there, from the senile old granny to the near-toddler. The problem, DS, old pal, is that the people incarcerated in places like Abu Ghraib are suspects for no other reason than that were arabs and in the wrong place. i.e. on some street in Baghdad, most likely wondering what all the commotion after some attack was. This isn't an unlikely place to be if you live in the vicinity of where the attack took place or had legitimate business to be out...oh, let's say shopping or working. Following your reasoning, if someone robs a bank, we should arrest every one within the city block as a suspect and toss 'em in the tank until someone got around to question 'em. And have the guards working them over meanwhile. Desperate measures, sure. But holding people not judged guilty in perpetuity? Guilty until proven innocent, is that it?
